How Does Hoodia Gordonii Plus Curb Hunger?

Hoodia Gordonii Plus is a weight loss product that works on a very simple principle, reducing the appetite so that people who use it naturally eat less. Although Hoodia is relatively new to consumers in the USA and Europe, there is a place where it has been used successfully for hundreds of years. Surprisingly, this place is one of the most inhospitable landscapes on the planet -- the Kalahari Desert.

Hoodia gordonii is the scientific name of a particular cactus plant that thrives in the hot, dry atmosphere of the Kalahari Desert. For many generations, the San Bushmen who live in the Kalahari have known that by eating this spiny cactus plant, they can get by, roaming their desert, without feeling hungry or thirsty.

It was not until the 1990s that the remarkable appetite suppressing properties of Hoodia were discovered by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). They were studying the native plants eaten by the San Bushmen. When the Hoodia plant was tested on laboratory animals, it was observed that they lost weight.

It was not long before Hoodia gordonii began to be tested on people. A study group of obese people were allowed to eat as much food as they wanted. Half of them were given Hoodia, and the other half a placebo (sugar pill). After only fifteen days, the Hoodia group had lowered their daily calorie intake by 1000.

How Hoodia works is this: It tricks the brain into thinking that the person has had enough to eat. It is believed that Hoodia contains a molecule that triggers the Hypothalamus area of the mid-brain in a manner that happens naturally when the body's blood sugar level rises after a meal.

When independent reporters from CBS News and the BBC tried Hoodia themselves, they both concluded that it works exactly as it has been described.

Although there are no known side effects, care must be taken by people who use Hoodia gordonii that they do not become malnourished because they are eating less food. That is why Hoodia Gordonii Plus includes extra nourishment from added Magnesium, Mangosteen Oil Extract and Green Tea Extract.
