Be Ready to Seize the Moment

I've always been a big advocate of planning out your marketing far in advance.

The thing about marketing is that it goes through very clear and noticeable cycles. For those who have been in the business of marketing for long enough they get used to seeing these different cycles and finding out the best way to take advantage of them. Your company can do the exact same thing if you pay close attention to the types of marketing people are doing.

The holidays will bring with them specifics marketing pushes you can keep your eye on and start to plan for well in advance.

But the other side of marketing doesn't lend itself well to an approach like this. Sometimes something is going to come up out of nowhere that the smart business can take advantage of.

Take the recent rise in gas prices over the past year. Yes, prices start going up a long time ago, but the giant spike in prices caught a lot of people by surprise. Suddenly the marketing for cars shifted more from the amount of space a car had or how fast it could go from zero to sixty, and instead shifted to the number of miles per gallon you could get. This was the new focus and the thing people wanted from their cards.

The companies that have thrived the most are the ones who were first able to alter their marketing to fit this new message. They were able to immediately give people exactly what they were looking for, and because of it, they gained a lot of business.

Each industry is going to have things like this happen, and I'm sure it's happened in your market before as well, which means you have to keep your ear to the ground and be prepared to quickly get out a strong marketing presence around the new issue.

Postcard printing is a prime tool for something like this. Postcards are very quick and easy to design. If you have a good number of postcard templates already made out than you can make the process go by even faster. You might be able to design and get your postcard printing order taken care of in the span of a week or two.

Now you can get your message to the public before anyone else. All of those people hungering for something different will move towards you because you're proving yourself to be on top of the issue.

Yes, planning ahead will always be a part of marketing, but so is being able to act quickly and get your message right to the people. Always keep the fast forms of marketing like postcard printing ready for when you need it. When things change, be sure you're changing right along with them.
