If you're not familiar with the types of oils that are important to know about regarding aromatherapy, then you have to read on. To start off it is common to categories the different types of oils into three categories, which are: carrier oils, essential oils, and organic essential oils. Carrier oils can best be described as vegetable oils that are mostly used for diluting essential oils, and they are taken from the fatty section of the plants. There are many different carrier oils to choose from, and they all have different qualities and benefits that should be taken in consideration with what your needs are.

Essential oils come from the very essence of the plants, and by that we mean the part where the fragrant of the plants are at its highest. These oils can be gathered from a variety of plant parts however, and one good example of an essential oil is the flowering tops of chamomile and lavender. There are many ways of how the extraction process function, some which are using mechanical removal and steam distillation. Because many types of essential oils can be very strong, and should not touch your skin directly, it is important to know that this is where the use of carrier oils comes in.

In general you should read up on aromatherapy before trying to experiment on your own, since some essential oils can be dangerous to your health, if handled incorrectly or applied in a large enough scale. The most common uses for essential oils are to help you with stress, use with meditation, sore muscles, emotional and therapeutic uses, as well as spiritual and physical uses. Organic essential oils are basically oils that come from the most natural plants that exist, which are plant that never have been exposed to pesticides. These oils should be gentler on your body, and have been used greatly over the years to heal wounds. Organic oils cost a little more than others, but should diffidently be worth it. The chance of you irritating your skin is greatly reduced, along with it being good for the environment.
