Chuck Liddell: Bringing MMA to the Mainstream
Chuck Liddell is arguably the best and most popular fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and he is using his popularity to bring Mixed Martial Arts, especially the UFC to the mainstream spotlight. It seems that more and more people are changing their career paths and lifestyles to try out their luck in the pit of the UFC. Chuck Liddell is in the media so often that he is raising awareness about this awesome, pure sport and making everyone want to take part.
The most recent person to jump on this wagon is the former hockey player from the Nashville Predators, Darcy Hordichuk. He has announced that he will be spending the summer training with Chuck Liddell to try his skills in the pit. In the world of mixed martial arts, Chuck Liddell is affectionately referred to as the Iceman and he is noted within the Mixed Martial Arts community for his exceptional takedown defense and knockout ability. So, Hordichuk is hoping that his time with the Iceman will make him that much better and more aggressive on the ice. He has even been working with the man who trains the UFC superstar Chuck Liddell to further improve his skills.
Liddell is the man that everyone wants to learn from and train with because he has taken down many hard fighting opponents that not many other people have been able to beat. These include some of the masters of this sport like Jeremy Horn, Randy Couture, Tito Ortiz and Kevin Randleman. It was not until 1998 that The Iceman made his entrance into the Ultimate Fighting Championship with his victorious fight against Noe Hernandez. It did not take long for him to really build a name for himself because only four years later he was known as being the number one Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter in the light heavyweight division. Chuck Liddell is probably the most popular guy in the entire UFC and over the years has developed a rather strong fan base. Anyone who follows the sport has a great amount of respect and love for Liddell. Even those who only watch the sport casually and are less serious about it absolutely love him and would give pretty much anything for a chance to meet him. Chuck Liddell has changed the face of Ultimate Fighting Championship and has effortlessly brought it to the spotlight for everyone to enjoy.
