Natural Treatments For Asthma And Allergies

It is estimated that about 23 million Americans suffer from asthma and another 50 million suffer from allergies. These are hard numbers to ignore. So the question we have to ask is, "Why do so many people suffer from allergies and asthma?" Is it something in the water? Is it the lousy air that we have to breathe? Is it the way we live and eat?

The truth is, it's all of that and a lot more. Certainly how we eat has a lot to do with the problem, but more on that later. But what exactly causes asthma and allergies?

Most people think of allergies as the coughing and sneezing you get from being exposed to pollen. But the truth is, there are way more allergies than simple exposure to pollen. Indoor allergies, which are caused by mold and dust mites can be just as uncomfortable. Maybe even more so because most of us are indoors more than we are outside.

The ironic part of allergies is that the reason we suffer from them is because our body's immune system is doing its job to protect us from things like pollen, mold, dust mites and a number of other allergens. The sneezing, coughing and itchy eyes we have to suffer with is our own body's defense. If our immune systems didn't work so well, we wouldn't suffer so terribly. Yes, that is certainly irony.

With Asthma, it's a little different. Asthma is basically caused by the narrowing and squeezing of the bronchi. This happens when the muscles around the bronchi tighten and thus constrict the air flow. It's normal for these muscles to occasionally close, but in a person who has asthma, these muscles overreact and close more often than they should, thus causing difficulty in breathing.

However, the underlying cause of asthma is still the environment. The factors, which also include outdoor and indoor allergies, extend to cigarette smoke, air pollution, animal dander, deodorants, perfume, colds and infections. Asthma attacks can also be brought on by cold air, exercise and emotional stress.

So as hard a time as it is for people with simple allergies to cope, those with asthma have an even harder time because they have so many other external factors that can bring on an asthma attack. Whereas an allergy sufferer isn't going to have an attack while on stage performing in front of 3000 people, this particular environment is a prime candidate for bringing on such an attack.

If you are reading this and you are either an asthma or allergy sufferer, you know exactly what I am talking about. I suffered from allergies since I was a child. I wish the book on our products page came out when I was young. It took me many painful years to get over my allergies. This book, which is essentially what I ultimately did before I knew it existed, would have saved me a lot of grief.

It's true. You don't need harmful drugs to treat your asthma and you don't have to live with your asthma any longer. Check out the info below for more details.
