There are Many Types of Four Seasons Sunrooms
The company we decided to work with had lovely designs to choose from. The "straight" model was just what it sounded like. It was a plain design with no additional features. The design was well done. but it was not the type of room I had in mind. We decided against it almost immediately because of the starkness of the design. In our Victorian home. it would look too modern and not keep the old fashioned style and tone of the old house. Since there were no elements in the straight design that would tie it to the look of the rest of our house. we decided to look at other designs. The next plan we looked at was the curved plan. This. too. had smooth modern lines that would not complement the look of a beautiful old Victorian. As soon as we saw it. we knew it was not the right choice for us. The third choice available looked like it was just the right one for us. This was the "cathedral" sunroom design and it was just the thing to blend into the old fashioned look of our Victorian home. The high ceilings mirrored the interior rooms of the house. and the design of the structure had details that fit with the same old fashioned look. However. this sunroom was rather large compared to the size of our home. and would dwarf the look. It was disappointing that the cathedral style did not fit "size wise". since from a design point of view it was a perfect fit. On to the last style. and a good thing too. because at this point I am getting tired of looking.
Luckily. this last choice was a perfect one for us. This style was called the "conservatory" and it is an absolutely stunning four seasons sunroom. The hoices available to us for materials was also wonderful. and we chose wood. which is the logical choice for an old fashioned home. Our problem was choosing between two different styles called Georgian Conservatory and Victorian Conservatory. They were both so beautiful that choosing between them seemed impossible. The Victorian seemed the right choice because of its name. but the Georgian had just as much appeal.
Now we are very happy with our beautiful four seasons sunroom. It combines the old fashioned look that we needed for our Victorian home with modern construction techniques that combine excellent design and quality.
