Christmas: Happy Birthday Jesus
To have a birthday celebration
It seems not many
Have remembered
This very special Person
Apparently their priorities
Are otherwise located
Their souls entrenched
In shopping and Christmas
Attending parties and giving gifts
Decorating houses
Singing happy songs
Sending out cards
Baking tasty dishes
Children writing lists full of wishes
Hoping for Santa Claus to soon come
Meanwhile we adorn the tree
This season is oh so fun
Meanwhile the birthday boy
Is left feeling numb
Neglected and hurting inside
While others take great pride
In their Christmas celebrations
Not realizing their heart's deviation
A detour from the purpose of Christmas
Ironically however they feel
They've got the Christmas spirit
Yet how can one have
The spirit of Christmas
Apart from Christ Himself
The Lord of life
Immanuel, the Prince of peace
It is His birthday we celebrate
Yet somehow Him we don't appreciate.
Why is it we ignore Christ
Overlook His abundant life
Forget the cross on which He died
To save humanity from their sins
Liberate us from Satan's power
Empower us by His Spirit
To live victoriously every hour
We who are caught up in Christmas
And forget Christ are spiritually sour
Without divine presence or power
Filthy with our sins
We need a cleansing and shower
By the blood of Jesus and Spirit of the Lord
Yet with such Biblical experiences
We seem greatly bored
Defiantly froward
Continually resisting going Godward
Anyhow happy birthday Jesus
Enjoy Your special day
We'll be busy and out of the way
We'll call when we really need you
When we do, please don't forget us.
Sorry Jesus
I'm saddened we disregard You
Have no time for You
Rarely show and share
Our love and care
With you the founder
Of this glorious holiday
But Christmas is coming
We've got things to do today.
