The whole theme of this movie plays around the District Attorney of New Orleans, Jim Garrison played by Kevin Costner) who brilliantly solves the mystery of the Kennedy Assassination. In this version, there is no hypnosis: the reborn Garrison resourcefully uncovers cogent evidence that Clay Shaw planned the Dallas killing of President Kennedy in New Orleans with two confederates: David William Ferrie (played by Joe Persci), a homosexual soldier of fortune and Lee Harvey Oswald (played by Gary Oldman). He establishes that this trio, who also participate together in orgies, all worked for the CIA, and were recruited into a conspiracy to seize power in Washington.

This movie has solved the most intriguing question of the 20TH century--Who was behind the killing of President John F. Kennedy.Of course this is only another movie about the assassinatiom that was met with much skepticism. But the reality of this movie is that it did show the District Attorney of New Orleans, who brought the only criminal investigation connected to the assassination to trial.

The first official inquiry was conducted by the the ten-month investigation of the Warren Commission of 1963-4 and the United States House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA) of 1976-9. This conclusion initially met with widespread support among the American public, but polls, since the original 1966 Gallup poll, show a majority of the public hold beliefs contrary to these findings. The assassination is still the subject of widespread speculation and has spawned numerous conspiracy theories.

The 1979 conclusion of the HSCA [House Select Committee on Assassination, based on disputed acoustical evidence, concluded that Oswald may have had unspecified co-conspirators), though these theories have not generally been accepted by mainstream historians and no single compelling alternative theory has emerged.

Many years after the House Select Committee on Assassinations issued its report, the attorney G. Robert Blakey for the House Select Committee on Assassinations issued a statement to the news media calling into question the honesty of the CIA in its dealings with the Committee and the accuracy of the information given to it.

A 2003 ABC News poll found that 70% of respondents suspected there was an assassination plot.[85] These same polls also show that there is no agreement on who else may have been involved.

Is this movie worth watching? For no other reason but to keep the discussion alive after all these years, I would say yes. Even thought there is always a sort of liberal interpretation of events when it comes to movie making, this film does serve a meaninful purpose.
