For fans of Elizabeth Tudor, Anne Boleyn, English and Celtic history, Sci Fi, Fantasy, and Alternate History, this elaborate Fantasy will thrill and enthrall you. Expertly woven by Mistresses of each genre, Roberta Gellis, Historical Romance, and Mercedes Lackey, Sci Fi and Fantasy, ILL Met by Moonlight picks up where their first collaboration leaves off, This Sceptr'd Isle.

The tale commences after the death of Jane Seymour and the birth of Prince Edward Tudor and continues at breakneck speed to the aftermath of the death of King Henry VIII.

Lackey and Gellis continue their expert blending of legend and history with intricate intrigues of the Bright and Dark Courts of UnderHill, Elves mixing in human schemes in OverHill, and the far-seeing motives for Elven meddling with the succession of the Heirs of Henry VIII.

Underhill and Overhill, who are these 'people'? An excerpt from This Sceptr'd Isle explains: Denoriel laughed weakly. "Actually, fairy guardian is pretty close to the truth. Some mortals call us Elves. Some call us Faery. Some call us the Fair Folk." A smile twitched at his lips. "Some call us names that it is better a youngling like you doesn't hear. But as you call yourselves English, from the name of your land, England, we call ourselves Sidhe from the place we made for ourselves, the sidhe. Now, because many, many other folk than the Sidhe live in that place, we keep the name Sidhe and call the place where we live Underhill. Thus sometimes we call your world Overhill or the mortal world."

One surprising twist, Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Richmond, the illegitimate son of Henry VIII, is a major character in the series, and that young man plays an important role in Elizabeth's life.

I loved it and highly recommend it.

The websites of Mercedes and Roberta have great introductions with previews and free chapters of all the books in this fantasy series.
