One of the inherited doctrines of mankind is that the Quran is quoted or borrowed from the Bible. This Dogma is established upon studies of many prejudiced intellectuals.

In this series of articles, I will try to explore this Dogma on scientific basis to show up that it is forged.

If we study any topic in Quran versus Bible, we will observe the big differences between both. If we link such dissimilarities to the sciences, we will realize that the Quran preceded the modern sciences by more than 1300 years.

In the topic of Stars, one may ask this: Is the Quran quoted from the Bible? And which book preceded the sciences? The book which talks about the wandering or the singing Stars or the one which talks about the great issue of the positions of the Stars!

Before dealing with the topic of the Stars in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is mandatory to give some statistical hints.

The total words in the Bible are 788,280 while total words in the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times than the Quran to exhibit its topics.

Back to the Stars, they are mentioned 35 times in the Bibles and 9 times in the Quran.

The Stars in the Bible:

In 13 verses, the Lord kept promising that the numbers of the children of Israel will be too much the same as the number of the Stars.

Examples of such verses are:

Genesis 22:17

That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the Stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

Genesis 26:4

And I will make thy seed to multiply as the Stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed;

Deuteronomy 4:19

And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the Stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the LORD thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.

Deuteronomy 28:62

And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the Stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God.

1 Chronicles 27:23

But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under: because the LORD had said he would increase Israel like to the Stars of the heavens.

As we know, There are about 100,000,000,000 (100 Billion) Stars in the Milky Way and the question is: does the number of the children of Israel came close to that number of Stars?

In Job 38:7:

When the morning Stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

As far as I know, the scientists never say that the Stars sing!

Also, I wonder who the sons of God (Pleural form) are.

In Psalm 147:4:

He telleth the number of the Stars; he calleth them all by their names.

The scientists could roughly figure out the number of the Stars but I believe they have no idea about the names of all the 100,000,000,000 (100 Billion) Stars present in the Milky Way.

Not only that, but in Jude 1:13:

Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering Stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

I can not recall any scientist talking about wandering Stars!

The Stars in the Noble Quran:

In Surah 6: 97:

It is He Who maketh the Stars (as beacons) for you, that ye may guide yourselves, with their help, through the dark spaces of land and sea: We detail Our Signs for people who know.

The Quran is talking about the guidance value of the Stars in darkness. Also, the Scientists said that Pole Stars are often used in celestial navigation. While other Stars' positions change throughout the night, the pole Stars' position in the sky does not. Therefore, it is a dependable indicator of the direction north.

In Surah 16: 12

He has made subject to you the Night and the Day; the Sun and the Moon; and the Stars are in subjection by His Command: verily in this are Signs for men who are wise.

The Stars are signs for the wise men. Hence the study of Stars needs wise men. Why is that?

The mighty swear:

Allah Who created the Stars swear with their positions and HE told us that this swear is great and mighty IF WE KNOW!

In Surah 56: 75-76

Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars and I swear with their positions, And that is indeed a mighty adjuration (great swear) if ye but knew,

When we look at the night sky we see Stars in different positions depending on the time of night. We also see different groups of Stars depending on the time of year. The reason we see Stars move during the night is because the Earth spins.

The Earth orbits the Sun in one year and in one year you will see many different groups of Stars in the sky. These groups are the constellations. Because the Earth orbits the Sun you will see different constellations, for example, at night in the winter months than in the summer. The Stars themselves exhibit motion relative to each other. Using repeated overlapped CCD scans (up-to-date sophisticated technique); positions for 661,591 Stars have been established, however with some errors.

As far as I know, There are 100,000,000,000 (100 Billion) Stars in the Milky Way, of which some 50 Million are cataloged.

Up my knowledge, which is admittedly limited in Astronomy, To plot "all the Stars in our galaxy" is undoubtedly impossible.

Hence, to determine the positions of the Stars is a very big issue that is out of human competence.

Now, do you realize and accept the value of Allah ' swear by the positions of the Stars.

The great issue of the positions of the Stars in the Quran is NEVER mentioned in the Bible.

We are in need of sciences and wisdom and intellectual people to determine precisely the positions of the Stars.

That is why, ALLAH said:

"Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars and I swear with their positions, And that is indeed a mighty adjuration (great swear) if ye but knew"

This means that if we know we would realize the value of Allah' swear.

The mighty swear is for what?

If you admit that Allah' swear is great and mighty, then I recommend you read Surah 56: 75-81 to know what is the reason for Allah' swear.

Also, I may ask you this question:

Is the Quran quoted from the Bible? And which book look good with sciences? The book which talks about the wandering or the singing Stars or the one which talks about the great issue of the positions of the Stars!
