The Key to Permanent Weight Loss

The Key to Permanent Weight Loss? No, it is not sewing your mouth shut and yes, there really is one.

On any given day, almost half the women in the US are on a diet and countless others feel guilty because they are not on a diet.

Diabetes and obesity are rising dramatically, even though there are new dieting products and weight loss gimmicks coming out on the market every day.

Take this pill. Buy that exercise video. In six weeks you will look like this super model. First TV ads tried to suck us in, now the Internet and Email sales letters flood our computers with offers to good to be true.

So how can I claim that there is a permanent weight loss solution? Simple, I want to take your attention away from the food, away from the calories and away from the unused gym memberships in your past.

The key to ending your dieting and weight loss plans for good lies within your thinking and your emotions. How much of your thinking time per week goes into the food and exercise category?

Try tracking yourself for just a day or so. You will be stunned by how often you have thoughts about what you should be eating, what you shouldn't be eating and what you will be eating next.

At the end of the day, you may be one of the thousands of "score keepers" who review the days eating and place a "good girl" point on any healthful choices and a "bad girl" point on all poor food choices.

Then you are all set for a healthy dose of guilt and shame that wraps it all up in a very powerful package guaranteed to completely undermine your permanent weight loss and dieting plans.

No wonder the wallets of the dieting industry get fatter and fatter, no one is telling you the one simple key to finding a weight loss plan that will not fail you.

The first step is to become aware of how many of your waking hours are spent thinking about food, your need to lose weight, guilt about not losing weight and shame about your physical appearance.

You may want to buy a counter at your area office supply store. This inexpensive tool fits easily into your pocket and you can click away discreetly as you go through your day.

Once you are aware of how your mindset is being dominated by what you think about, you are on your way to losing weight from the inside out…the only way to lose weight permanently.

Now, write down several of your thoughts around dieting and weight loss and begin to reword them into thoughts that are more positive and hopeful. When these thoughts are reworked successfully, you can tell because it feels good to read them out loud.

Here are a couple of examples:

"I hate that I can't have chocolate whenever I want." Could be: "I want to be able to learn to enjoy chocolate in small amounts and be satisfied."

"I hate exercise." Could be: "I want to find an exercise buddy to help keep me motivated and to talk to while I am working out."

"I don't want a salad for lunch, I want a burger." Could be: "I want a burger for lunch except I always get so sleepy, I think I will try a salad and see if I notice a difference in how I feel after lunch."

When thoughts are changed continuously, you will see your relationship with food shift dramatically. Give this idea a try, just for a week or two. You will be amazed.
