You may not have lots of gold, but there isn't an excuse for being time poor. Time management techniques can move you from living in the land of the time starved to the land of the time rich without being gold poor. You have the same 24 hours that everyone else has. How you spend that time determines if you are time wealthy or time poor.

Time is a non-replenishable resource, understanding and implementing time management techniques that are right for you can make you time rich. A good first step is recognizing how truly valuable time really is. You don't get a redo button when it comes to time. Once it's gone it's gone never to be had again no matter who you are.

If you are reading this article you are probably among the time starved wanting to learn a time technique that will end your misery. The bad news is that there isn't one technique that will provide salvation for everyone, but the good news is that there are a number of techniques that will benefit you. Before you can select the time management techniques that are right for you; you need an understanding of how you behave now, how you value time, and what you want to get.

You may not want to live by stringent time constraints, but you do want to feel like a human being who has time for at least some of the pleasures in life. Being time rich means something different to you than it does to someone else. Defining what it would mean to be time rich to you is a good first step in helping you to identify the target you are shooting for.

Once you know what you are shooting for a good time management technique is to look at your calendar and evaluate your current obligations. As you look at your current obligations ask yourself if you have really blocked out enough time to fulfill those obligations. Frequently you forget to include the little things like travel time. Little mistakes like that automatically set you up for a time crunch.

One of the best time management techniques is to block out time for the things that are important first filling in the remainder of your time with the things that you have to do. Often you just keep recording what you have been doing and how you're currently spending your time. The problem with that approach is that it just ensures more of the same. Blocking out your calendar for how you want to spend your time and then working to follow what you have blocked out will put you in a better position to be time rich.
