Would your date catch you if you fell at the cinema?

The cinema can be the perfect location for a first date and over the years a great number of people have fallen in love in the back row. However, with so many steps to climb it's surprising that these lovesick puppies haven't fallen in the dark and sustained a serious personal injury.

In America, a crowd of cinema goers escaped suffering injuries after a SUV ploughed through the cinema's wall during a screening of Beyonce Knowles' film Dreamgirls. Fortunately, nobody suffered car accident injures in the crash and the driver of the SUV was later charged with drink driving. The owner of the cinema in Connecticut commented on the vehicle accident and said, "It was just a surreal shock, especially while the show's running and people are in here watching Dreamgirls."

Just a year later another tragedy occurred at the cinema involving a 66-year-old man who fell after stepping into a gap that was reserved for wheelchair users. The gap was three times the height of a normal cinema step and had not been marked out by the cinema's management. The man was rushed to hospital but died three days later from serious personal injuries. A coroner commented on the fatal accident and said, "It is manifestly clear that this gap in the seats should not have existed, that it was potentially hazardous and perhaps most relevantly it was something that could have so easily been rectified." It is unknown if his family contacted a no win, no fee solicitor to make compensation claim against the cinema.

Despite such unfortunate accidents, you shouldn't be put off taking a trip to your local cinema, whether it's Vue www.myvue.co.uk, Cineworld www.cineworld.co.uk or Odeon www.odeon.co.uk the risk of having to make a no win, no fee claim for a serious injury is highly unlikely.

If you're planning to take a love interest to the cinema for a first date with all the pickings of popcorn, ice-cream and Pepsi then there are a great selection of films on at the moment; some may even include a set of personal injury solicitors tackling a serious no win, no fee claim? According to www.londonnet.com, these are the top ten films for the beginning of April 2007:

1) 300
2) Amazing Grace
3) Mr Bean's Holiday
4) The Namesake
5) Premonition
6) Becoming Jane
7) Factory Girl
8) Meet the Robinsons
9) Sunshine
10) I want Candy

So, eat all the Pic'n'Mix you want and grab those back seats before anybody else can. Just remember, rushing home for an early nightcap could easily lead to a no win, no fee claim; take one step at a time.
