Have you ever focussed your entire life around the achievement of one goal?

Have you ever arranged your life to fit the needs of progress in one tiny area of your life?

Have you ever felt the burning desire to maximise your talents which has led you to focus on one unerring goal?

If the answer to these questions is a 'no' then it may be that you have so far not accompished all that you migh have thus far. You may be going through life by being led more by circumstance than by actually controlling your own destination and outcome. Take a look now at your life. Are you really the decision maker in your life or is life dictating to you? What decisions have you consciously made recently that are really steering the direction of your life?

It is very easy to be distracted by the material world we live in, to be dictated to by earthly desires: money, cars, careers, television, fashion and ultimately society at large. Not that there is anything inherently wrong with those things but are you simply living up to the expectations of society rather than fulfilling your own internal desires.

Are you really following the things that you want to achieve in life, I am talking about the things unique to you. The things you are passionate about and gifted at. We all have our own personal desires and talents. If we can identify what these things are and then let them flow through our lives unhindered then imagine how much more happy and successful you would be.

Learn to nurture one definite goal that you wish to achieve and focus on that one desire. Do not be like most people who merely wish to have many things but lack both the desire and the purpose to achieve any of them and therefore garauntee themselves more of the same 'lack of fulfillment'.

The good news is you can break free from this error by simply learning to concentrate on your one goal. Now don't worry about working out 'how to concentrate'. Concentration is in actuality a thing to do not an abstract theory. Have you ever been so interested in a soccer game to the exclusion of all else? If you have you will remember how dominated your mind becomes by thoughts of the game, to the exclusion of all else. It is this same approach that will allow you to focus and concentrate on your own chosen desire and to make it real in your life.

Here is my challenge to you: Establish one clear desire for yourself that comes from within (something you personally wish to accomplish) and concentrate all your effort towards the achievement of this goal. Now see how much more effective you will be focussing on one individual goal and not spreading your efforts on vague wishes. Robert Collier sums this point up best:

" The time you put in aimlessly dreaming and wishing would accomplish marvels if it were concentrated on one definite object"

A further natural testimony to this is the suns rays. Whilst they remain scattered they accomplish little but when concentrated through a magnifying glass a much greater power becomes available.

In short you need to find that one intense desire that you are willing to sacrifice all else for, that one thing that pulls you deep inside, that one thing that will inspire yourself and others to great achievements. Focus on that one thing and never give in until you have accomplished your goal. Once you have mastered this process you really can say that you are the master of your fate and the captain of your soul! What a joyous day that will be.
