How to Choose a Professional Wildlife Control Company

Choosing a Professional Wildlife Control Company can be a difficult thing to do. Just as with any service business, everyone has their own way of doing things.

But is their way of doing things the right way? The legal way? The humane way? The most cost effective way?

Let's start off with the right way.

You can't go to college to learn to do the things that Nuisance Wildlife Professionals do. You can acquire general knowledge in college that will help you make some decisions about how to resolve the wildlife conflict, but experience is still the best teacher. Choosing a company that has in depth experience is very important. There are many things that can easily go wrong when working with wildlife so choose a company that knows how to handle the situation correctly. If they sound as if they are unsure of what they are doing over the phone, they probably will be unsure of how to solve your problem.

The legal way?

Many states require special licensing to work with wildlife. Does the company have the necessary licenses to operate in your state? A call to your local Wildlife Agency will let you know if this is necessary. Ask for their law enforcement section and ask them if Nuisance Wildlife Operators are required to have a license in your state. Ask them if the company you are considering working with has that license. They may not have the companies listed so you may have to know the name of the operator of the company.

Is it legal to relocate an animal in your state? Maybe not. If someone tells you that they will relocate an animal in your state and it is illegal to do so, do not do business with this company. You could be held liable for their actions as you hired them to resolve your problem.

Ask for a copy of a contract so you know what fees and responsibilities are required of you. This will protect your best interests and prevent runaway fees.

The humane way?

Do they protect the animal in the cage environment from sun, rain, snow and other environmental factors? Do they provide adequate food and water in the cages? Will they be quick to respond to an animal captured if weather is bad? Do they euthanize animals in a way recommended by the American Veterinary Association? All of these issues are important to you and the wildlife that is being removed. Animals do die on occasion for reasons out of control of even the best Nuisance Wildlife Professionals. Good companies put the best interest of the animals at the forefront of their service.

The most cost effective way?

The old adage of "you get what you pay for" is very true in Nuisance Wildlife Management. If you are quoted a ridiculously low price it could mean poor service or no service at all. You may also get quoted ridiculously high prices.

It requires a lot of tools, time, continuing education, insurances and licensing to run this type of business. Good companies will charge appropriate fees to come to your location, bring all the tools and experience to you and resolve the problem. A good operator will want to solve the problem in a quick manner and not make unnecessary trips to your property and charge those fees to you.

We hope this information will help you make an informed decision when hiring a Nuisance Wildlife Professional.
