A shopping bag is one accessory that we use very often. Whether we are shopping for garments, cosmetics or groceries, we need shopping bags to carry them. We want them to be light in weight, durable, very much affordable and always near at hand. Hence, most of us usually settle for a plastic bag. Plastic shopping bags are generally of two types. There are some bags that are meant to be disposed of after single usage and then there are better ones that can be used for a longer period and are then thrown away once they begin showing signs of wear and tear. So once you have thrown away your plastic shopping bag, you either buy one or get hold of a similar bag from a shopping mall and life goes on. In the entire process, we do not realize how much damage is actually being done to the environment through our own act. The serious environmental concerns related to the use of plastic bags are not unheard of. Plastic bags take ages to degrade and in the process, they break down into toxic particles leading to environmental degradation. If they end up in canals, the drains get choked. It's high time we realize the need to do away with plastic bags and get used to a better alternative. So, opt for reusable bags. Reusable shopping bags are fast gaining popularity. Countries that have banned the use of plastic bags have already experienced a growth in the use of reusable bags. These bags are made up of non woven polypropylene that is water repellent, durable and, more importantly, environment friendly. They do not contain toxic chemicals and comply with the FDA regulations. So say ‘yes' to reusable bags and inspire others to be a part of the green revolution.
