Reciprocal Links
Reciprocal links are is a link building procedure from your website to another site coupled with a corresponding link from the other website back to yours. For instance, if you link to a website and that website links back to you, you have swapped reciprocal links. All links to your website are positive as far as the search engines go, but reciprocal links carry less weight than one-way links. You should build as many links as possible, but if given a choice, try to focus your efforts on one-way-links. So, what is a one-way link?
One-way Links
One-way links are links from websites that your website does not link to. If a website owner likes your site and puts a link in their site to you, this would be a one-way link. Search engines give more weight to a one-way link than their reciprocal cousin. Search engines believe that if an unrelated site links to your website, it is because this outside site feels that you have a superior website, product, or whatever. And the search engines assume that if many others think that your site is superior, they must be right. And that brings us to the final point...
Anchor text
As mentioned previously, not all links are created equal. Links using anchor text are seen as being much more valuable than just using the URL. So, what are text links? Following is an example of text links:

(If you can't see the structure of the anchor text links above, right click on the text and then choose properties.) Ideally, the words you use for your anchor text (Fat Loss 4 Idiots and Permanent Acne Cure) are the keywords for that website. The search engines give the most weight to this type of keyword anchor text. Many people mistakenly use ‘click here' instead of their keywords (as in the example below): Click Here Click!
That is a mistake, always use to keywords to maximize advantage with the search engines. Use the techniques described here and watch your search engine rankings rise.
