It's wonderful to pursue a college degree. By this pursuit, you are planning to work hard and achieve the best education you can for your future. Many opportunities will be open to you because you are going to secure a degree in an important field. Also, you will join the ranks of many professionals today and tomorrow with your in-depth knowledge. So, I congratulate you on choosing college.

However, college is not what you may think!

Personally, I loved my college experience. I learned a lot and developed into a professional I always desired to be. What I did have, which many do not, is the understanding of what college is. Most college students believe a degree is the answer to their dreams---IT'S NOT! While a college degree does make it easier to get into the career field you desire; a college degree is not an 'end-all' solution to you career destiny.

You have to understand: graduating college is only one part of the puzzle. There are many other activities you need to participate in to create the 'ultimate' resume. These activities include:

· Participating in volunteer activities on and off campus
· Leading or taking leadership positions in various organizations
· Becoming an active voice in your field by submitting articles to magazines and newspapers
· Starting a 'weekend' business where you work the same position as your career field to get experience and exposure.
….and more

By experiencing the ideals above, your resume will reflect a well-rounded person who can do the job effectively and understands the bigger picture. Employers love to see this quality. When it's time to apply for jobs; you will find it much easier now that you have more than just a degree.

The motive of this is simple: do more than just get a degree. Gain wisdom, insight, and truth in understanding. If you do this, the job will be yours to have.
