Ever looked at your self in the mirror and thought your hair wasn't thick enough? Or had a big date but didn't have the time to do your hair? Well, other than going out looking like you got caught in a rain storm or mugged by a homeless guy, you do have another option; you can consider trying a wig on for size and instantly styled hair.

Today, the use wigs and hair extensions are no more common placed than centerpieces on coffee tables; almost everyone has it on display. But beside being a very common and accepted hair accessory, wigs and hair extensions has been so technologically refined to look, feel and move like your natural hair that no one would be able to tell that it's not!

Long ago wigs were seen as the mark of the Royal or the rich and were used by Lords, Ladies and thespians alike in Legal Courts, at social events and in theaters. And while the use of wigs in hair designing styles had both popular phases and out of favor periods throughout history, wigs always seem to bounce back and find themselves on the heads of a great many people. Celebrities, actors and actresses, and your next door neighbor can turn up one day with short cropped black hair and the next with shoulder length blonde hair!

So what exactly is it about wigs that make them so desirable for hair designs? Well for one thing wigs are versatile. They can be styled into any hair design relatively easily, or replaced by an already existing wig styled in your desired design. This also makes it easier on those who find themselves under time constraints and managing hair is more than a task.

Another reason why wigs are so frequently in hair designs is simply because some people are trying to achieve a style that cannot be done with their natural hair. Many people with fine or thin hair use wigs and wig pieces to make their hair look fuller and thinker, especially when trying to style hair in an up do. This is also a much healthier alternative for your natural since trying to achieve thickness and volume by means of teasing hair and chemical products can cause serious damage.

Perhaps the use of wigs is particularly appreciated by those who suffer from hair-related or other illnesses. Many surviving cancer patients who have lost their hair while undergoing chemotherapy opt for using wigs, not only because they are self conscious about walking around with no hair, but also because they've suffered enough to have hair to worry about, thus it is easier to go with the norm. Any person suffering from hair-related illnesses will share those sentiments.

So wigs seem to be the order of the day. Whether for cosmetic or medical reasons, wigs are a great way to add to your hair style or give you a hair design you may not have had otherwise. They are fairly easy to maintain and because they have grown increasing popular in recent years, many wig makers have dedicated their talent to the fine art of wig making. With expert wig makers around to pre-make or custom-make wigs for those who so desire one, or a closet full, you need not worry about your hair looking unnatural. Innovation and technology coupled with skilled hands and expert designers have only served to enhance and improve the natural look and feel of wigs.
