If you're looking for a holiday filled with sun and sand, then why not head to the beautiful island of Fuerteventura? It is the second largest of the Canary Islands and is the closest Canary Island to the African coast.

This island is ideal for a holiday property rental, as it has a wide selection of self catering properties available to suit all tastes and budgets. Fuerteventura makes a great location for a family holiday.

One big attraction is the island's long sandy beaches. There are miles and miles of beaches here and you will be spoilt for choice by the number of them. In fact, there are 152 beaches in total! Whether you're in search of a family-friendly beach or a quiet beach on which you can simply chill out, Fuerteventura has it all.

Some of the beaches you might want to check out are Costa Calma, Corralejo, El Cotillo Beach, Cofete and many more! Fuerteventura is a perfect destination for a beach holiday.

Not surprisingly, Fuerteventura is also popular with water sports enthusiasts. During your holiday, you can try your hand at sailing, surfing, windsurfing, diving, snorkelling or kite boarding along the island's fantastic coastline.

If you're planning a sports holiday on dry land, you can also enjoy a game of golf or go cycling or walking around the island. Fuerteventura is a great island to explore on two wheels or by foot.

There are many interesting places to visit during your stay on this beautiful Canary Island. Puerto del Rosario is the capital of the island and is worth a visit. While you are there, be sure to visit the home of the former exile poet Miguel de Unamuno, which is now a museum.

During your stay on the island, try to visit Corralejo, which is located in the north of the island and is a popular resort. It boasts sandy beaches, shops, bars, restaurants etc. If you fancy getting away from it all, take time out to visit the island of Los Lobos, which is a nature reserve and is a great place to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle. The island is just a short boat trip away from Corralejo. Look out for the rare birds while you are on Los Lobos!

Costa Calma, meanwhile, is a beach lover's paradise. It is also popular with windsurfers. The resort also has shops, bars, restaurants and a market, which takes place on Sundays. The market is a good place to go to stock up on provisions for your self catering holiday.

Another popular tourist town on Fuerteventura is Caleta de Fuste, which boasts a sandy beach, restaurants and bars. It's a great location for families and is a perfect area to chill out and unwind. It's also a good place from which to explore other areas of this lovely island, too.

So if you're searching for that perfect destination to spend a relaxing week's holiday or a more active vacation, check out the beautiful island of Fuerteventura and all that it has to offer.
