Once you have a press release you give it to the media and if you've done it right you'll get massive amounts of free publicity in newspapers, on the radio, and maybe even TV. Going in depth on how to write a killer press release is too large of a subject for this article but here are the basics.

First you need to create a newsworthy story. This is easier than it sounds and doesn't require much work. Just make sure that the story about your product or service is interesting and not a sales pitch. Nothing will get your press release thrown away faster than submitting a sales pitch. See this is already much more fun than cold calling!

After you have a newsworthy story you need to create a killer headline that will get your story read. This is one of the most important steps. If your press release doesn't get read then you've wasted your time. Your headline must grab everyone's attention and motivate them to read the rest of your press release.

So after you have a killer headline to go along with your newsworthy story you need to include your contact info. Your contact info is used by the media to contact you about interviews and getting more information.

That is a condensed version but it really is that easy. After you've done a good job on your press release you will get tons of free publicity and then you can drive people to your website, an 800#, or your physical store.
