HTC has recently released yet another Android Smartphone, one of their latest being the Wildfire. Offering similar specifications to similar HTC handsets such as the Legend and Desire, this handset is slimline, lightweight and aesthetically pleasing.
The appearance of the handset could be described as chunky with a modern twist. Available in black; white and red versions are seen to be released offering aesthetic appeal to style conscious users. Handset itself measures 106.8x 60.4x 12 mm whilst weighing in at a pocket friendly 118 g.
An impressive touch screen offers an interactive and dynamic means of navigating the HTC Sense user interface, whilst providing superb quality display of on screen imagery. The TFT capacitive touchscreen measures 3.2 inches and offers display of up to 16M colours within a pixel layout of 240x 320 pixels. A built in accelerometer sensor allows video files and photos and other applications to be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.
In order to alert users to incoming messages and calls, a combination of vibration and ringing is utilised and users have the opportunity to assign their favourite tracks and MP3 formats as ringtones so they can customise the phone. Handsfree communication is made simple thanks to an integrated speakerphone system along the 3.5 mm audio Jack which accommodates both hands free kits and earphones for listening to music tracks.
A micro SD card slot is provided which can be utilised to gain up to 32 GB of storage. This means users have the opportunity to store an entire digital music collection along with a large number of other tracks.
Class 10 versions of both GPRS & EDGE provide connections to cellular networks in all but the most isolated regions. Integrated Wi-Fi Technology provides a super fast Internet auction whenever it senses the signals provided by wireless Internet routers. When this is not the case, 3G coverage provides access to the Internet via an HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second.
A versatile 5 mega pixel digital camera is provided which operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x 1944 pixels. This great piece of hardware if includes features such as Autofocus, smile detection and an LED flash. GPS allows the geo-tagging function to operate, which automatically records the location at which a photo was taken. The camera can also shoot video footage is an alternative method of image capture.
Thousands of applications are available for download both free of charge and paid for via the Android Market. This option adds to the already versatile functionality of the handset.
