Jewelry should match your outfit as well as your other accessories. You can buy all of the pieces together at stores like Johnston & Murphy or Appleseed's. The other option is to build a collection over time that still coordinates together.

Color

An easy way to coordinate jewelry is to pick a color or range of colors. This also applies to metallic tones like gold, silver, and rose gold. If you wear a lot of brown accessories then you can try tiger's eye, chocolate pearls, and wood bangle bracelets. The tones all relate back to each other even though each material is different.

Notice all of the other metal tones that you have going on already in your outfit. This could be an emblem on your sunglasses, hair clips, or hardware on a handbag. Subtle details are important in this instance. This can be the inspiration for your jewelry choices.

Style

Lend cohesion to your jewelry wardrobe by picking out the same style of accessory. A traditional look may include a pearl brooch with a mother of pearl watch. For a fashion forward feel, try floral corsages and bracelets in bright colors like hot pink or lime green.

The size and silhouette is also important. For an understated look just stick with one statement piece like an oversized bangle bracelet. Then pair it with traditional stud or hoop earrings. If all of your jewelry is in a plain finish then you can play around with larger sizes.
