The New Year is upon us and once again, it is time to reflect upon 2006 and set new goals for 2007. So, why not just make some New Year's resolutions? Because resolutions do not work, period! How many times have you made a resolution on January 1 only to have forgotten it completely by January 15th?

In order to start the New Year with the power to accomplish what you really want, you must incorporate solid goal setting practices with "Intention". Below is a simple method that will get you started in the right direction. Power goal setting takes intention, burning desire, visualization, affirmations and practice. This step by step system will demonstrate how to set a powerful goal as well as a process to assist you in reaching the goal..

Step One - Take some time to evaluate your desires. If your goals are not big enough to get you excited, you stand little chance of reaching them. Personally, I do not believe in being realistic, I believe in the Law of Attraction and that anything you can dream you can have. If your goal is clear enough, you will attract the right vehicle and tools needed to make it a reality. Use this step to get clarity. Take a look at where you want to be exactly one year from today. Paint a very clear picture in your subconscious mind. Now write down exactly what that will look like. Be specific. Goals must be very specific. I have used this quote for over 30 years, the author is unknown, but the meaning is powerful, even today; "If you do not know where you are going, how will you know when you get there". So get clear and get specific.

Step Two - Outline exactly what it will take to accomplish your goal one year from today by mapping it out on a calendar. Starting with December, 2007, work backwards month to month noting every possible accomplishment and milestone that might take place to reach your goal. If it is a lifestyle you are looking to accomplish, then you must include in your calendar every activity, trip, event, celebration, major purchase that will take place along the way. It is very important to not consider your current situation or your history when mapping out this process. You are creating your future, not recreating your past. So create exactly what you want month to month.

Step Three - Establish a reporting or accountability system. At the end of each quarter, evaluate where you are and compare to where you should be according to your plan. Now, very important, never reduce your goal. You may have to change your actions or increase your goal, but never reduce it.

Step Four - Celebrate your wins. This is a very important, but a frequently ignored step. When you celebrate your wins, include the "closeness" of the win. For example, if your goal was to earn $10,000 in February, but you earned $8,000 instead, then celebrate how close you are. Any negative energy will negatively affect your results, so get excited about how close you were to your goal for that month.

These steps combined with laser focus on your intended outcome will result in success every time.
