The Philosophy of the Internet Newbie
Newbies are being told that they can build an Internet business with little knowledge or experience. The Internet is totally exciting and a way to become net citizen of the world while making a fortune. The newbie believes that some of them will fail at being a netpreneure; while at the same time they believe that it will not be them.
Armed to the teeth with what they were told and their own flawed logic, the newbie puts caution on hold and puts the peddle to the medal. Their new venture becomes their passion saying, they are going to get all they can for free to build their business empire before they spend a single dime building it.
Now that their faces are not pressed against the store front window of the Internet candy store any more, inside they begin sampling all of the Internet goodies that they think will make them an instant success (as they were told and what they themselves believed).
Free ISP and website, free hosting, free anti-virus software, free email, free online community with built-in marketing and advertising tools, free traffic generators and free affiliate programs.
Stop!
Hold on just a minute!
I thought the newbie was ready to start THEIR business, it appears that as soon as they got access to the Internet, their business plans took a serious turn from being an entrepreneur to being a distributor or affiliate for all the companies they associated with (for free).
Entrepreneurs are self-directed and own the cash-register. Affiliates/distributors are commanded and don't own the cash-Register, they receive a commission on the selling of the company's products/services.
Some of them eventually figure it out that they were manipulated. Business whether online or off, it is still works exactly the same (business is business). Knowledge coupled with their time, money and decisive actions will build a competitive and profitable business.
This is the first fundamental choice for the newbie; do they want to build their business from a base of knowledge or from here-say and half-truths?
It is our experience that newbies do not question what they are told. It is critical that you have the best information available for building a business. I strongly suggest you consider procuring a business coaches/trainers that you can trust.
This is by far the best recipe for the increased longevity of your fledgling business. This single idea will save you untold hours of time and money. Not having a coach/trainer is one of the main reasons why most businesses fail within the first two years of starting it.
This is the second business fundamental choice for the newbie, do they want to be self-directed or do they want to be directed and commanded? It is a question of either being a leader or forever being a perpetual follower.
Leaders are visionaries, they work today to shape the future; while followers settle for being mediocre and live for today. Personally, we call ourselves leaders in training and perpetual students of learning.
There is another choice on the table for the newbie. They can start their business and at the same time sell products/services of other companies as a distributor/affiliate; that way they can have the best of both worlds.
Finally, don't fall for the half-truths of Internet business. They will tell you that the money's in the list. The truth is that the money is in the responsive list. There is a process to building a responsive list. Once you know and institute the process you will have a perpetual "ah ha" moment for your business.
