This article considers three vitamins for hair loss. When considering the problem of hair loss, diet and nutrition are important factors as it is important to maintain a healthy blood supply around the body which gives the hair follicles the protein and oxygen they need.

Vitamin B

B-complex tablets contain a rich variety of B vitamins for hair loss. Additionally, it is good to note these foods which are a good source of B vitamins:

Beans

Soy beans

Peas

Carrots

Cauliflower

Bran

Nuts

Eggs

Vitamin C

A vitamin for hair loss that should be definitely be considered as part of the overall regimen is vitamin C.

Vitamin C helps the capillaries which in turn deliver blood to the hair follicles. A suggested dosage is between 3,000 and 10,000 mg a day.

Vitamin C is a natural detoxifier and helps the body get rid of poisons and impurities in the system.

As Vitamin C is not stored in the body it is important not to suffer a deficiency if you are fighting hair loss.

Vitamin C increases the circulation of blood and contributes to healthy cell and tissue growth.

Vitamin E

This vitamin for hair loss should be treated with a little caution. As increased vitamin E intake can cause adverse reactions when combined with some medications it is wise to consult with a medical practitioner before taking large quantities if you regularly take medication for other health conditions.

One suggestion is to start with 400 IU a day which can gradually be increased to 1,000 IU a day.

As a vitamin for hair loss, E is effective in increasing peripheral circulation through oxygen uptake with benefits to the scalp. It is also possible vitamin E helps the body's immune function which in turn stimulates hair growth.

Interestingly vitamin E was used in the fur industry to promote healthy fur in animals and it is still used today in certain supplements for pets to contribute to healthy fur.

Being aware of which vitamins for hair loss are necessary in your diet or as supplements is one step toward stopping hair loss and maintaining healthy growth. Jonathon E. Phillips in his groundbreaking book "Hair Loss No More" (see Resource Box below) includes information on minerals and vitamins for hair loss as part of an overall regimen to treat the whole body.

This approach from the inside is crucial to maintaining a long term healthy scalp and hair growth. It is also much cheaper than spending hundreds of dollars on prescription drugs or lotions with dubious claims to success.
