I have talked about small search engines, directories and forums a couple of times before, and said that the effect arent that great, but even small things can get you some traffic, but Also you can write articles about a subject if you know enough about it, and have fairly good english skills. In some cases you may also publish press releases, it may not be relevant. But maybe you have a new product to promote, an announcment about new features or events on your website or be creative.

Now to the point, where do you submit your link or article or press release?

I would recomment you start by making a folder in you internet explorer favorits folder, to store all the links you will get when searching for submission locations.

Start by using google.com, if you just write submit website, you'll often get alot of unwanted results, you will get websites providing to do submission for you for a small fee, this is not what we want, we want clean free submissions. So by filtering your search you get more precise results, here are a couple of examples and explanations.

'submit url here', 'submit website here' by using ' you get the precise sentense in the google results, and you will get alot better result in search for submission sites.

Another way is to search for a sentense plus a keyword, lets say you want to search for the sentense 'submit website' at a website directory then you just write 'submit website + directory', you see this gives you endless possibilities for filtering out unnessasery sites.
Just to clearify the above example, here is the same just for a press release submittsion.
'submit here + press release'

Another great tip is that many article submission sites use the same script for their website, and it is always shown at the bottom (of top) of the page. So if you search for the excact sentense that is linked for the script, you will get alot of result for article submission sites. Example. One of those script providers are 'Article Dashboard', so search sentense would be.
'submit + Article Dashboard'
