Nowadays one of the hot topics under discussion, all around the world, is trying to find ways which can help us in preserving mother earth. Thanks to this growing awareness, more and more products are now available on the market, which are made of such materials that do not harm the earth. Whether you want to buy an eco friendly car or eco friendly emulsion paint, I can assure you that you will find a wide range to choose from.

Now let's say that you are a parent and you want to choose eco friendly nappies for your child. If you do a little research you will discover that disposable nappies, that are so easily available in market and still so widely used, are not eco friendly at all. It's a scary statistic to consider that approximately 800 million disposable nappies are dumped into Australian landfills every year, with each nappy taking around 500 years to break down. The decomposing nappy material and human waste left in landfill generates methane gas and is therefore a major contributor to global warming. This provides a clear argument for why disposable nappies should be avoided wherever possible. So what's the alternative? The answer is simple, use modern cloth nappies instead.

During the last few decades numerous researches have been conducted that clearly prove modern cloth nappies are not only good for your baby but also the environment in which we are living. This small change of using the cloth nappy instead of disposable nappies can help you in preserving the earth for generations to come as well. The question that might come to your mind is what is it that makes this possible? The fact is that disposable nappies are not biodegradable due to which they can keep on existing on the face of earth for as long as five hundred years and more, without getting affected by the decomposition process. Now just imagine all those disposable nappies that have been used and discarded over the last decade only will keep on existing on earth for many centuries to come and keep on contributing to the pollution on earth.

One the other hand there is no such disadvantage attached to modern cloth nappies. Modern cloth nappies can be re-used as many times as you need and for as long as you want. Another thing that you might want to consider is that the valuable resources that are used to make cloth nappies will be used in lesser quantity as compared to disposable nappies where they will be used again and again. Furthermore, once babies have grown to toddlers and have been in a position to voice their own opinion about whether they prefer cloth or disposable nappies, the answer has been a resounding "yes" to cloth, proving that not only are they great for the planet, but they are also best for baby. Hence, it is safe to say that by using modern cloth nappies we are ensuring that our children grow up in a much healthier environment.
