Instead of listening to myths and old wives` tales about pregnancy, you should make sure that you get pregnancy facts from your doctor so you know the reasons for your feelings. It is true that women do have strange cravings during pregnancy, but not all of them crave pickles and ice cream late at night. The food that you do crave can help you understand your body more when you get the facts about the various kinds of cravings. For example, women who do crave pickles may be sodium or calcium deficient, which means it is important for them to eat foods containing these minerals. Craving junk food does not mean that your baby will also want to eat junk food. These foods are often seen as comfort foods and women just want to eat them so that they can get the great taste.

How often have you heard someone tell a pregnant woman whether she will have a boy or girl by the shape of her body? According to old wives?tales a woman carrying a boy will carry the baby low. The fact is that whether a woman carries the baby high or low depends on the shape of her body structure. If you are tall and thin, it is likely that you will carry the baby high. If you are short and have a low waist, then you will likely carry the baby low.

At one time women thought that they should eat as much as possible when they were pregnant to gain weight. However, there is no set amount of weight that a woman should gain while she is pregnant. As long as you eat the right foods and in the proper proportions, then it doesn? matter how much weight you gain. If you do eat healthy foods, you will likely not gain a lot of weight and therefore not have to lose a lot after the baby is born.

While some may think it is a joke that pregnant women should not take HOT baths, this is fact. The reasons that doctors advise women not to have the water warm for their baths is that it can help to decrease any swelling they may have in their legs and feet. The warm water can also help to increase the amount of amniotic fluid that surrounds the baby and help prevent premature labour. Warm baths are very soothing and will help you relax after a long day. When you are calm, the baby will also be calm.

Fish is good for you when you are pregnant. Although there may be concern with increased mercury levels in fish, this food is one of the best sources of Omega 3 fats that the baby brain needs to develop. If you don't like fish, you should take fish oil supplements.

If you have a cat in the house, it could be dangerous for you to change the litter. This is because the feces of cats contain a harmful virus. Experts recommend that if you do own a cat, you should have as little contact with it as possible when you are pregnant and keep the house extra clean.
