Moving Past the Freak Out: Understanding The Causes of Anxiety

Intense studies by psychologists and psychiatrists have been done in the area of anxiety for the last five decades with major breakthroughs and solutions found to help battle a crippling disease. Scientists have studied various techniques in mood control, what parts of the body anxiety causes the most stress on and chemical imbalances from anxiety that occur in the brain.

Scientists have long determined that the brain is a mini computer. The brain has mystical preprogramming mechanisms that are already present when we are born. There are mechanics of memory, storage and backup. Some of these terms you are already familiar with and some of these terms may be new but there is a reasonability that every person has to maintain their mental state so that anxiety is limited and controlled.

Anxiety comes from the ability to "freak out" over a situation and circumstance that you cannot control. What you see are roses and the lilies of the valley but no one every told you about the Panther waiting on its prey to stop their anxiety of being hungry. Anxiety in short comes from the root word "anxious". Anxious and anticipation is different but it's the anxiety that kills people. Many people would love to go into a shell and ignore people but that's not how life operates.

Anxiety can be felt in all areas of life, such as;

Having the fear of rejection
Afraid of being told no
Having phobias, such as heights, water, etc
Having to perform at the job, etc.

Researchers examining the repercussions of anxiety on the neural system of the brain have gained valuable insight to develop treatment and cures for anxiety. Research also indicates that past and previous experiences that have occurred to an individual can cause imbalances that are in the brain area.

This means that the neurotransmitters in the brain have somehow been damaged or compromised and has altered the communication links inside of the brain. The imbalance in the brain is what makes it easy for anxiety to surface in some people more that it does in others.

When stress, anxiousness or depression comes, our brains are releasing these chemicals at a jagged rate and this can cause brain problems as time goes on. It can also damage the amount of oxygen that it takes for the brain to operate at an efficient level. These is dangerous and often, people never get this checked and end up suffering from diseases, such as, Alzheimer's or other mental disorders.

Most modern methods for treating chemical imbalances come in the form of prescription drugs. Paxil, Prozac and Effexor are believed to have a direct effect on key anxiety treatments. These drugs also have side effects, and the drug manufacturers themselves aren't sure how the drugs work to 'rebalance' brain chemicals. Users of these drugs often report other health problems and relapses. Sometimes, the drugs fail to address the underlying causes of the chemical imbalance.

It's agreed amongst researchers that humans feel stressed or anxious at times, and can easily suffer depression. This is because our daily lives become like a pressure cooker with many experiences and vibrations going on at the same time. The physical and mental feelings we experience are being caused by the release of chemicals and hormones in our bodies. If we understand this, then we can get a better understanding of anxiety.

One of the problems is that humans are not taught to cope with stress and anxiety from an earlier age. These mechanisms should be taught to children but in education systems around the world coping mechanisms aren't taught because educational institutions are the breeding ground and measurement for how much success a person will have in their lives. Systems that are created by man have enhanced anxiety and stress, especially in the business world where the rule of money overrules health and mental well-being.

One of the problems is that many are living on a system that requires too many hours during the day. The human body wasn't made for that kind of physical program. Then, depending on what job you have, mixed in with stress and anxiety, you can see why people are in bad shape. Not only does this affect chemicals in the brain but it can lead to weight gain and other physical sicknesses.

If you cope with stress, you will be able to keep your neural system balanced. Just remember, there are natural ways to cope with stress instead of drug induced ways. Your mind is a terrible thing to waste and a terrible thing to misplace. You need to take care of it!
