Everybody is aware of the devastating impact of alcohol on a person's life. It gets even worse when a person drives under the influence. Driving after the consumption of alcohol is a sure way to end up in a fatal motor accident. Various government and social service agencies attempt to educate citizens on the perils of drunk driving. The production of drunk driving videos is a strategy to alert and restrain people from driving when they are drunk.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), any motor vehicle accident is considered an alcohol-related one if either the offender or the victim involved is determined to have had a blood alcohol concentration or BAC of .01 gram per deciliter (g/dL) or higher. Approximately, 41 percent of all motor vehicle crashes are alcohol-related. Because of drunk driving, someone gets killed in a crash every half hour, and very other minute, someone is severely injured in a collision. A variety of videos are available to create mass awareness and to warn people of the fatal dangers of drunk driving. These videos are affordable and easily available. Drunk driving videos are used widely as part of educational campaigns conducted all around the US. These videos teach teenagers and adults the adverse effects of alcohol on a person's capability to drive a motor vehicle.

Most teenagers forget that it's good to have fun as long as alcohol and drugs are not involved. Drunk driving videos teach young people what alcohol is, the effects of binge drinking and the factors influencing a person's BAC. Most of the videos are short and contain various, on-the-spot accident scenes. The Toronto Police Service and MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), Canada has worked jointly to produce a video called "Not Ready To Go." This video is used to enlighten teenagers and young adults on the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It focuses on a crash that occurred near Perth, Ontario claiming the lives of five young teens and injuring eleven adults.

Drunk driving videos are typically educational that are used in secondary schools and other educational institutes. Certain videos are aired on television and feature the true stories of victims of drunk driving.
