What is a Nerf Bar Anyway?

The world of vehicle accessories can be full of excitement. After all, a vehicle is a major investment, and you probably spend a great deal of time in your vehicle. It's good to know that you have so many choices for accessorizing, and that you can turn your car into the best vehicle it can possibly be. There is just one little problem - all of those customizing choices.

No matter how exciting a proposition customizing your vehicle might be, you should learn as much as you can about your options. The first thing you should do is familiarize yourself with what accessories are, so that when you pick up a magazine or open a website, you'll know what you're reading. For instance, everybody knows what rear bumpers and hubcaps are, but what about nerf bars and rear spoilers? If you're a beginner at auto customization, you may not be familiar with these particular items.

A rear spoiler is a sort of "tail" fitted to the auto's bumper that gives it a sporty look. Physicists have long known that adding this little piece to a car that needs to travel at great velocities will cause the air to roll right off the back of the vehicle, making it more aerodynamic. A rear spoiler is also a relatively inexpensive way to improve the lines of your car. Yes, you can get a rear spoiler for your pickup, too.

Roll pans are another item that you need to know about if you are serious about customizing your vehicle. This is a bit of pickup truck wizardry designed to rid that busy look that a regular bumper imposes on your vehicle. A roll pan will give the back of your truck one sleek line without making it look as though you have a diving board attached to your tailgate. It also allows you to have one solid color all the way down to give your vehicle a sophisticated look.

Another important aspect of your vehicle's look is the grille. Of course, you already know what a grille is, but you may not be familiar with the many different kinds of grilles on the market. For one thing, the billet grille isn't your only option if you simply like the grille look. You can also fit your car with a bumper grille for extra-textured chrome.

As for billet grilles, themselves, there are many, many options. Those options include the "bar" style, the "punch" style and a more textured "mesh" look, among others. There are also specialty billet grilles with designs ranging from flames, tribal designs, patriotic designs and more.

These items are, of course, only the tip of the iceberg for accessorizing, but they will get you going on your way to true car customization knowledge. By the way, nerf bars are side steps that help you climb into particularly tall vehicles. Don't take these things for granted. They do affect the look of your truck.
