Internet Marketing - Cutting Through the Nonsense
It seems I'm pitched the same products over and over, by a number of marketers, every few days when the next 'amazing product' comes along. My mailbox fills up with what seems to be the same promotion, worded differently, from every mailing list I'm on and I spend the next half hour deleting the repetitive nonsense.
Are these products really so amazing that nearly every internet marketer on the planet would swear on their mothers that this is THE product that will make you rich? Then a few days later, the same groups are swearing by another 'Must Have' product. How can we trust what they have to say when it seems so clear that their only motive is to make a sale?
If you're like me you've bought your share of internet marketing-related products. I'm also willing to bet you've been less than satisfied with a fair number of them too. Perhaps it turned out what you bought was not quite what you were expecting based on the sales letter. Or maybe you felt you paid too little for the product - you got far more than you were expecting and this product could in fact change your life.
The truth is there's no easy way to get the facts you need on a product to make an informed decision before you spend your hard-earned money. Any information you get is either splashed with ads or littered with affiliate links; everyone's trying to make a quick buck off of you.
I've begun to unsubscribe to a large number of my internet marketing mailing lists. I don't think I'm missing much; most of them are promoting the same thing anyway. I still remain on a few mailing lists - I stay with the marketers I feel deliver quality information and who are not afraid to give their actual opinion on something before they hand me their affiliate link. It's the trust that counts, not the hype. What's important is that as more people do the same, soon enough the message will catch on.
A new method of evaluating products will rise. We should not need to rely on the hype and nonsense of marketers pitching a product through their newsletters or ads, whose only real concern is to make a sale. We need people who have actually bought and used the products to give their honest and truthful rating of its performance without any financial incentives influencing their opinion.
There seems to be a major lack of these types of websites in the Internet. Am I the only one that is compelled to give people the truth about products and services before they buy - to not keep them in the dark? Hopefully as more marketers start catching on to the fact that people are starting to get tired of what they have to say and have had it with the flood of useless promotions, they'll realize they need to take a new approach.
