The Biggest Myth About MLM Your Upline Wished You Did Not Know

What you are about to read... is going to make you
uncomfortable. In fact, the following article may even anger
many readers.

I don't care about that now. I just want people to know the
truth.

I had been lied to enough and I will do everything in my
power to prevent others from falling victim to another MLM
lie.

I am sure you had been promised a system to follow, and a
compensation plan that promises you the magical 5 figure
monthly.

You may also have been told to stick through the 2 - 5 years
if you really want to see results in your MLM business.

You hear these lines so often you can repeat them in your
sleep!

"Go through your list one more time!"

"You will not believe the new marketing tool our company
just rolled out"

"You don't need to sell, just share with anyone you know
about your opportunity.."

Yes, MLM is a legitimate business that can possibly bring
you your financial freedom.

But it had developed such a bad reputation that we must do
something to separate ourselves from the blood sucking
pesters.

I will share with you one pitfall which if you avoid, would
make you the ethical MLMarketer the industry wish they had.

The first myth is that Network Marketing is about sharing,
not selling.

That can't be any less true...

Let me share with you a story.

My wife accidentally sold a few days ago.

She was eating a couple of nuts from a bag and her
colleagues wanted some. They tried some and asked her how
much they cost. They agreed to buy some through her.

Great news! She sold more than 10 packets of nuts that day!

Bad news. She did not stand to gain a cent of the sales.

Firstly, the packet of nuts costs $4 each. There are very
few products in the MLM that cost that little.

MLM products are usually big ticket, high commitment items.

People do not just buy what you share because there is cost
and commitment consideration.

So saying that MLM business is sharing than selling, is a
lie.

The moment your family and friends knows that you market a
particular product, you can no longer "share" without
sounding like you are selling.

That is human nature. People just don't want to be taken
advantage of.

But I once witnessed a network marketer share, then sell and
received a thanks at the end of it. It happened right before
my eyes.

My mentor Burt, received a call during our mastermind
meeting. The caller was very well received by Burt. Burt
agreed to meet him in 30 minutes together with all of us.
After he put the phone down, Burt began to sing praises
about the caller, Daniel, and told us everyone should know a
person like him!

30 minutes later, Daniel shows up.

He never once mentions about the fact that he is now a
network marketer.

In fact, I was the one who asked him what is it he does for
a living!

He began to take out his transparent sleeve file folder and
began to do his presentation on his MLM company.

Now at that point, I really studied him.

I know that many people would be absolutely turned off if
you started talking about your opportunity in the middle of
a conversion. I mean for goodness sake, he even took out the
file!!!

But what I saw, was a smooth transition from conversation,
to presentation.

He had a captivating story to begin with. Not many can top
that. He filed for bankruptcy.

He then talked about how he came to that stage in his life.
Then he continued to how he is living the life of his dreams
now.

The classic "Hero's Journey".

I realized he mastered the art of story telling. In the
book, "Wave 4: Network Marketing in the 21st Century - by
Richard Poe", one of the chapter talks about story telling
as a key skill of all successful network marketers.

You can't just share. Its not a movie that you want people
to watch. You need to story tell. Its a vision you want
people to enroll.

Back to Daniel.

At the end of the presentation, he mentions a few
nutritional products that helped his skin condition and
asked if anyone at table had a similar condition.

Amazingly, Jalyn's daughter had eczema too. Immediately,
before you can even say "deal", a transaction was made.

What he marketed directly benefited the prospect. He did not
even need to sell it. It practically sold itself.

But what is important to note is that the product would not
have sold so easily if not the fact that he build himself up
through his story.

------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, you may not need to sell in MLM. But you definitely
need a story compelling enough to hook the listener. If you
don't have a good story now, you better develop one soon.
Unless of course, you want to continue to repel people the
moment you open your mouth...

Ultimately, what I had shared with you would make it easy to
talk about your opportunity while sounding like a
respectable human being. Everyone likes to listen to a
Hero's Journey. In fact, most Hollywood movies are based on
that concept. Think about that.

Read the book "Wave 4". Read all the books on network
marketing success stories. You may realise that what
inspires you to continue as a network marketer, is the power
of their story.

Now is the time where action takers and procrastinators are
separated.

Go ahead, try it out. Develop your story. You can do it by
yourself, or with the help of your upline.

What have you got to lose? If anything, you had just put
another skill in your arsenal.

Put this skill into practice, and you can see similar
results.
