Visiting Cape Cod is an experience that will leave a lasting impression of the most cherished experiences that you may have had. Cape Cod is a pristine peninsula located on the east coast of Massachusetts. There you will find some of the best beaches in the world that have been unspoiled by human development and appear as they did hundreds of years ago.

Erosion changes the outline of Cape Cod but for many of its beaches that is all that has changed. Cape Cod has many protected beaches and some are national treasures like the Cape Cod National Seashore. The great Outer Beach described by Thoreau in the 1800s is protected within the national seashore. Forty miles of pristine sandy beach, marshes, ponds, and uplands support diverse species. Lighthouses, cultural landscapes, and wild cranberry bogs offer a glimpse of Cape Cod's past and continuing ways of life. Swimming beaches and walking and biking trails beckon today's visitors.

Cape Cod is also home to the Cape Cod Rail trail which takes up residence on an old abandoned rail road path that once was used for supplying Cape Cod and the islands. The Cape Cod Rail Trail follows a former railroad right-of-way for 22 miles through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. Its paved surface, few hills, and well-marked automobile crossings make it ideal for cyclists. The trail has a wide unpaved shoulder on one side to accommodate horseback riding, walkers, and runners.

Cape Cod offers many activities from beaches, biking, shopping, boating, golf and is one of the favorite wedding locations of many brides in the past. A host of beautiful locations serve as one of New England's favorite wedding spots. Cape Cod is also the home of nine to ten fabulous golf courses that make golfing a favorite past time for residents and visitors.

Cape Cod is surrounded by the ocean. To the north is Cape Cod Bay and to the south is Nantucket Sound where you will frequently find the numerous ferries that passenger visitors to and from the islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Cape Cod is clearly a summer destination but in the fall you will find the climate to be warm and the numerous cranberry bogs loaded with cranberries ready for harvest. The color of these bogs is clearly worth a visit to see.
