Wedding favors are special and it is a gift that symbolizes the appreciation of the couple for the time, effort, gifts, and wishes of the guests. Although they are not required, many couples think it is good etiquette to get them as a token of appreciation for their guests. Apart from the thank you notes that are to be sent to guests on a later date, wedding favors are given at the end of the reception for the guests to immediately take home.

As with any other part of your wedding, while wedding favors may be small in size or in cost, they are not of less importance or significance. Thus, the same effort, time and love in preparing the other aspects of your wedding should be placed as well in preparing your wedding favors.

Whether you have a typical favor or something that is truly unique or expensive, and the same as any other gift, you can make it more special by the decorations and how you package it. Here are some tips on how you can make a simple wedding favor into a special and memorable thank you gift.

- You can use bows or ribbons to tie them together instead of just bundling them in the bag or wrapper. You can use different colors and width of ribbons for a special artsy effect. You can even order special ribbons where the details of your names or the wedding details are printed. Use colors that are complementary to your gift or the gift wrap. For an added touch, get a ribbon printer to print your names and the date of the wedding on the actual ribbon.

- Use embellishments such as charms, pendants, bells, or an image that they can easily associate with the theme of your wedding. There are different charm designs or pendants that you can use. A small heart charm can accentuate the wedding favor, or you can use other designs such as your initials, a flower, or any symbol associated with weddings. You can also use bells, including silver bells or mini-crystal bells that when you tie the bag or gift wrap, you can have the bell tied with the ribbon as well. If you are having a themed-wedding, use charms in the shape of a symbol associated with your theme. You can use slippers, beach balls, or the sun as charms when you have a beach wedding for example. Use charms shaped as a leaf or flower when having a garden wedding; or a palace, a slipper, a tiara, or a heart for a fairytale or Cinderella wedding.

- Decorate your favor with mini-cards, hang tags, or sticker labels. Instead of giving plain favors, you can use these items to personalize them and they can serve as accents as well.

Enjoy decorating your wedding favors. You can show your artistic side and you can reflect your personality as well by choosing decorations that show who you are and your appreciation. A simple favor can turn into a special favor with the right materials, the right color and the right accents.
