Water. We can't live without it. It is the one certainty in our lives, we can't live without water! But did you know that the water you are drinking may not be safe. There are bacteria and microorganism present in the water that can be harmful to your health.

You are exposing yourself to a number of pollutants, which contaminate the water and are not visible to the naked eye every day. Bacterial contamination cannot be detected by sight, smell or taste. The only way to know if a water supply contains bacteria is to have it tested. Human and animal wastes are a primary source of bacteria in water. These sources of bacterial contamination include runoff from feedlots, pastures, dog runs, and other land areas where animal wastes are deposited. Owners of private water supplies are responsible to themselves for having their water supply tested to ensure it is safe from bacterial contamination.

In the United States, the drinking water supply is normally safe. Yet diseases that spread through water are still a very real problem. The Harvard School of Public Health believes that as much as 10 percent of the serious gastrointestinal illnesses suffered by children are caused by them drinking tainted tap water. While many contaminants are found at levels not enough not to cause immediate discomforts or sicknesses , it is proven that even low-level exposure to many common contaminants will, over time, cause severe illness including liver damage, cancer, and other serious ailments. We are very vulnerable to some of the deadliest water borne diseases, such as cholera, typhoid, dysentery and diarrhea.

The industry is loaded with opinions about which type of water purifier is best. It really is a personal choice and depends on what substances you have in your water that have to be removed. However, the bottom line is that drinking water that is free of bacteria and germs is necessary to avoid serious health problems. Water filters are an affordable alternative to bottled water and are effective, giving you peace of mind and help to keep your family healthy. A Water Filter or Water Purification System is one of the most valuable home appliances you will own.
