Hair Loss - What Factors Cause Hair Loss?
Many factors contribute to hair loss and/or gradual balding. Most define hair loss as the gradual thinning of the hair on your scalp. Depending on the person, hair loss can look and behave differently. This condition of hair loss can begin at any age and is irregardless of your sex - it affects women, men and young teens as well. When someone realizes that they may be losing their hair, they hold onto every strand as precious to them, as it is!
Your Genes Can Determine Your Hair Line
If you look at your family tree, you can see a tendency to have bald spots as you age. Our genetic make-up determines a pattern of what we can look forward to. Thankfully, it is not set in stone as you may or may not have that male pattern gene even though most of the men in your family do. It depends on your own personal genetic make-up so don't despair.
Health and Stress Problems Can Affect Your Hair
How important is it to maintain low levels of stress? It is very important and most experts agree that it does contribute to hair loss. One significant fact is that when you are stressed, you tend to eat sporadically. If you are not giving your hair the nutrients and vitamins it needs to grow, you can see how this would affect your hair short-term.
There are also other health conditions that can contribute to permanent or temporary hair loss. Among these are those conditions that affect our hormones. Some hair loss may be something temporary as with chemotherapy while some cases are permanent especially those genetic ones. In some cases, it is the individual himself who pulls out strands of his hair as a direct result of stress. This is an unconscious action that can result to bald spots.
Since some hair loss is permanent, there are some really good alternatives. You must be careful, though, not to damage your remaining hair and certainly to keep the hair follicles which are the roots of your hair, healthy and vibrant. Do not damage the roots of the hair you have left.
