If you've decided that HTC is the next brand of mobile phone you want to go for, good for you - HTC is known as a reputable company that makes well-crafted, sturdy phones with a variety of functions and features that keep users entertained and up to date for a decent amount of time. The only problem facing those looking to grab a new HTC phone is which model to go for - the HTC Desire or the HTC Hero?

While both phones have plenty in common that bind their features together, there are also several differences that set them far apart. For instance, both phones operate utilising the sought-after Google's Android operating system, but their designs and styles are completely different. The HTC Hero is noted particularly for its looks because, unlike many touchscreen phones, the HTC Hero has managed to combine style and elegance into a form that is not a blatant iPhone clone. iPhone clones are some of the most common phone types on the market when it comes to touchscreen models - a fact that many mobile phone fans are not too keen on. The last thing many people want when purposefully opting for a phone that is not created by Apple is for the phone to look it like was!

The HTC Desire, too, manages to peel away from the iPhone clone look too. With a slick, lightweight look - but a nice feeling in the hands - the HTC Desire is an attractive option. So how do you choose between two good looking phones? By comparing specs, of course!

The HTC Hero has talk time of up to seven hours and 50 minutes, with 440 hours of standby time. It includes a five megapixel camera with video capabilities, email, web browsing, 3G, a memory card slot and wireless internet capability. The HTC Desire offers up a little more by way of its camera flash and radio functions, which substitute for its slightly less talk time and standby time features. It also has a slightly larger screen and, as does the Hero, MMS and GPRS capabilities.

All in all, the HTC Desire and the HTC Hero are quite similar specs-wise, so it may really come down to looks in the end - but isn't that one of the most fun parts about choosing your new mobile phone? You can be sure that by choosing HTC you'll be choosing a fantastic new handset in either case.
