In or out of the Internet? In or out the XXI century? A debate on new technologies and what is the part Internet is playing in our today's existence. Is today's executive profile one hundred percent Internet-dependant?

Is Internet part of our family?
At this point who hasn't already a Skype (www.skype.com), Googletalk or a Messenger acount, then they are stucked in the previous century, so hurry up because the multimedia era is already here. For all those who live away from their family or are compelled to travel a lot, Internet is their rescue vest when it comes to talk to their family, say good night or good morning to their parents, husbands or wives, to their childres or even to their house pet. IP telephony does that for them and at an almos zero cost, just an Internet conection available.

Is Internet part of our friends group?
The same applies for our friends. These days between working and famility it is a bit hard to keep up with old and new friends if it weren't for the fundamental existence of our buddy, the Internet. E-mail, chats, video conference and Ip telephony as well as social platforms are some of our tools to keep in touch with our amigos and dear friends and pals. While on a beach, sun bathing or during a coffee break at a terrance or a mall, we can access our Wifi pocket Pc and conect to skype or do some browsing and why not some googling on them. Or we may easily access our Gmail Mobile acount for GSM mobile telephony and send them an e-mail and all that in a matter of minutes.

Is Internet part of our working environment?
What is a today company without Internet? I don't think I could name just one single industry functioning without having to recur to the use of Internet at some point of their existence, if they want to develop, to grow their market share...Companies both local, national and multinational turn to all sorts of portals and specialized communities for services when they need to find new providers, when their executives travel abroad and they need to book a flight, a hotel or even rent a car. More and more, Internet is becoming the normal economical arena where people and companies interact on a daily basis from travel agencies in the US, Turkey, Australia, Italy, Greece to multinational companies like Colliers, Shell, BBVA and so on turn to Internet when it comes to practically any services their company or their employees may require: from full travelling packages relying on booking engines like Octopus, Expedia.com or Orbitz.com to hotel booking with services such as ActiveHotels.com and not forgetting international extended information on taxi services like Info Taxi (www.infotaxi.org) but also car rental companies at specialized directories as in the case of www.INFOCarRental.com.

Is Internet the place we go when looking for a new job?
Let's get honest, is there anyone reading this article that isn't already subscribed let's just say at least 5 different online job seeker platforms? No, I thought so. And who hasn't at this point at least, if not their own domain name website, at least a blog on Blogger by Google or a MySpace page where you chat, chat, chat when you have a minute on issues that you like.

Is Internet the place we go when seaching new business partners or ideas?
It is our answer if we want to stay updated on new business ideas as well as opportunities and why not, some new business partners, maybe across the world from our home. Haven't your already heard of the social networking websites like Neurona.com for Spanish speakers and its English homologous, www.LinkedIn.com. People are now interconected through these type of online environments more effective and faster than ever.

Is Internet the place we go when planning our holidays?
What is more comforable than beeing in your pyjamas while having a cup of tea or a coffee during a break time and browing on the next holiday destination we'd like to go. Some of us eventually we have to pay a visit to our travel agent in the city, but some of us will prefer stay at home and book their flight, hotel or car rental directly from their computer. Online shopping for holidays is a normal shopping day for many of us. Instead of having to wait in line to our conventional travel agency for two, three, four... persons in front of us to decide when they want to fly, what hotel and when etc, we can just choose to do at least the searching part from home, form our computer if not all our next holiday booking. And while we are prepairing to travel outside our city, we might as well make some online bookmarking to our acount opened with one of today's hot special online social bookmarking & tagging platforms -Del.icio.us, Yahoo Tags, Mag.nolia.com- for services we may need while on holiday, things like a website with local information on taxi stops, hospitals nearby, good anti-tourist trap restaurants, hot spots to visit, wellness facilities for spa goers, car rental services, our insurance company and also Visa or American Express website etc.

Is Internet the place where we turned to when we arrive to a new city and need to find some local services without having to wonder around looking for some local citizen to guide us?
Who hasn't been lost at least one time while visiting a foreign country or a town they didn't know? Everyone including myself, though I must say I have a good sense of observations and space orientation, even if they say women aren't good at that. Nonsense... Now, today one effect, a positive effect generally speaking of globalization and the best individual freedom to travel ever, is that we seldom arrive to an unknwon city and we try to ask anyone about anything, taxi services, where is the nearest bus station that can take us where we want and not to mention the looking for a street name, and chances are that we must go chasing for at least three or four people to finally approach our objective. Why is that, because, fortunately the citie now belong to international citiezen of the world but the sad thing is that it's more difficult to find a local who can guide us to where we want to go and what we want to do. But no problem, because now we have 3rd generation of mobile phones, we have major websites specialized in providing the best and extensive information of any kind of services we may require there. There will be place, cities and countries where things won't be one hundred percent "Internetesized" but even so we shall still find sufficient information on our issue of interest.

If "Yes" is the answer to all the above questions, then Internet is a fundamental part of your existence, enjoy and make the best of it!
