Baby?s emotional development means the tackling of the baby?s emotions and maintaining a proper balance in them. Emotional development involves developing of moods, expressions from sad to happy and from anger to normal back again. When the baby is of two months, he shows various kinds of moods through expressions. Emotional development has got nothing to do with understanding or age; baby?s emotional development starts from the time of birth itself. Rather it can be said the emotional development of the baby with the mother initiates from the womb itself. The emotions governing the baby in the early stages decide qualities like caring, empathy, resiliency, sharing, assertiveness, helping, showing sympathy, loving and the art to fight back the challenges throw by life in the future. At two month of age the baby shows various expressions by cries and small smiles. Some typical emotional skills are sucking thumb or fingers to show his hungry. Crying aloud when touched roughly or hurt. In such times also it is very important to show the love and care for the baby. Do not be mistaken that a two-month child does not understand emotions or feelings, rather always keep in mind it requires the mother?s warmth to grow fruitfully. Play is important in the age of 2-6 months, for the child learns and enjoys through playing skills. With time and age the baby becomes familiar with other people?s nature and emotions in the family. The baby tries to interact with other children of his age. The baby now is capable to understand emotions and feeling of other people too. It is the time when the child understands that he is been loved or avoided or scolded. This lasts from about eighteen moths to some two years of age. Two-year babies dedicate most of their time with games like puzzles and shapes. Here they develop their motor skills. It is the time period when they sort out their emotional conflicts and try finding their own sense in the new world. Babies show their expressions through games and plays with the dolls and kitchen sets. Most of all reactions to other peoples feeling are given back by the babies in this time phase. Between the age group of two to three years the baby tries to speak sentences. With the speaking skill he now tries to show various emotions. With increases in his vocabulary the baby finds it easy to express himself and his wants. Good deals of emotional and positive changes as well as developments are observed in this age. The baby is able to convey some 70-75% of the message they want to convey by their so-called new method of speech to display emotions. A crucial emotional development can be made in the baby?s life with face-to-face conversations. This simply means and is possible when one can spend quality time with the baby to create better understanding. For the baby?s emotional development is better advisable for at least one of the parent to be present with the baby. But in case this is not possible and one looks out for some care taker or babysitter it is a good idea to opt someone who can take care of the baby in proper manner and understand his needs and feelings.
