If you are contemplating of having a Toy Poodle in the near future, you should remember that you will be committing to the entire life of your dog. Take note that a Toy Poodle can live for up to 14 to 15 long years. If you are ready for this commitment, then you are indeed ready to welcome Fido as a new member of your loving family. But sadly, based on surveys, more and more dogs have been abandoned every year. There can be lots of reasons why dogs are abandoned by their previous owners. Unveil few reasons why some people tend to abandon the creatures of great elegance and beauty - the Toy Poodle.

Dogs are not allowed. One reason why a dog is abandoned or left astray is because the previous owner might have moved to a new place and it is just impossible to take the dog. It could be that pets are not allowed in the new place or the place is not an appropriate area for a dog to live in.

Cannot afford. This is one of the most common reasons why dogs end in dog shelters and rescue groups. The previous owner may not have considered the cost of dog foods, vet bills, medications and other supplies before buying or adopting a Toy Poodle. It was only later when he realized that he is not capable of raising a dog and the only option is to give up or abandon the animal.

Health and behavior problems. Dogs are cute as puppies. However, cuteness is not a guarantee that the puppy will grow up healthy, lively and remarkably intelligent. Some dogs may develop behavior problems such as chewing, digging or aggression. Some may develop or exhibit health problems only when they are older.

Time. Caring for a dog requires much time. Not to mention the regular brushing and clipping necessary to keep the dog well-groomed and clean.

Irresponsible owner. The worst thing to happen is for a lovely dog to end in the hands of an owner that is not responsible enough to know everything about the breed. That is the reason why most dog experts and enthusiasts stress the importance of knowing the breed information before buying or adopting a dog.

Now you know the reasons why dogs are abandoned. It's not the animal's fault alone so don't think that ALL abandoned dogs are problematic dogs.
