Danger - You Must Back up Your Email Lists

One thing that is critical with your email list is to keep a back up copy for yourself in a separate location from your auto responder. At least several marketers have lost huge list databases due to negligence or server problems, and if they had had a backup, they would not have had to start over from scratch. You are going to spend a lot of time, energy, and eventually money building your list, and you do not want to lose it for any reason.

Your auto responder may have a backup system, but do not feel that that is sufficient. You see, if they lose all of their memory, you have lost your list. If for some reason you, intentionally or not, break SPAM laws or their own list mailing guidelines, there is always the possibility that the auto responder company could hold your leads hostage or even delete them. If you had a personal backup of at least most of your leads, you could quickly get setup with another auto responder and be back in business mailing your list with little more than a headache from dealing with it. If you have no backup, you will be building your list again.

If you are hesitant to backup your lists because you have many lists, and it is time consuming, consider at least backing up your biggest lists---you may have 2-3 lists that contain the bulk of your names, and that would be far better than ignoring this all together.
