Know It All
Standing oh so tall
Brilliant in thine own sight
Always ready to be condescending
Concerning others in plight
Ever ready to instigate a fight
To project thy proud self
Any time day or night
Perhaps you should stop
Consider what if
You experienced hardship
And you were seen a flop
A societal misfit
Whom others would drop
Disassociate with and run from
Treat as if you were pitiful and dumb
Leaving you emotionally feeling numb
Perhaps now you're feeling
Understanding what I'm saying
Getting a glimpse of just how
You often make others feel
When in your ivory tower
You look down and don't appear real
Your poisonous looks
Critical stares, self aggrandizing glares
As if to say to others, "Who cares"
"About you, what you've been through!"
Come on now. Is this how
You want others to perceive you?
As a heartless arrogant individual
A pushy person who is not merciful
One who has a rough exterior
That is hard and impenetrable?
Certainly one day
You too will need a friend
In your hour of need
We all at one time or another
Get deeply wounded and internally bleed
Why then are you so quick to shun
And angrily sow the seed
Of rejection and ridicule
Thinking yourself to be so cool
When in actuality
Ironically it is you who play the fool
Did you never learn social graces
When you were in school?
Manners are most elegant
Yet compassion cannot be taught
It is something that must be felt
And inwardly caught
Perhaps this you've not yet got?
