Volkswagen Jetta Now Comes With a Sporty Wagon Model

In a recent official press release of Volkswagen Group, the Wolfsburg-based automaker said that Volkswagen of America has already delivered about 50,332 individual units to customers in the United States starting from January up to March 2007. The sales was dominated by the Volkswagen Jetta compact car, which has sold 21,564 units, making it as the top selling model from the Wolfsburg-based car maker. Other Volkswagen models include the VW Passat with total sales of 8,990 and the VW New Beetle with 6,176 sold. Overall, Volkswagen of America obtained 6 percent sales increase compared to the previous year.

Talking about the top selling Volkswagen model in the U.S., Volkswagen Group has recently presented the 2008 VW Jetta SportWagen at the 2007 New York International Auto Show that at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. According to Volkswagen the 2008 VW Jetta SportWagen "mixes practicality with European style and balances both elegance and sportiness. Its exceptional ride and handling and segment-leading safety features, along with its design are perfect for those with an active lifestyle."

Based on the VW Jetta hactback models, the 2008 VW Jetta SportWagen features a sporty and dynamic body styling and delivers optimum performance and value expected for a wagon vehicle model. Volkswagen is offering three power plants for the Jetta SportWagen. First is the 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine capable of pumping out a maximum of 170 hp. This engine is an upgraded version of the same engine found on other VW Jetta models. Other available engine types include the 2.0T 4-cylinder engine with 200 hp, and the 2.0L clean diesel engine.

As expected for a functional wagon model, the 2008 VW Jetta SportWagen comes with a comfortable and practical interior similar to VW Van parts. The Jetta SportWagen is equipped with usable cargo room with 32.8 cubic feet of space. In addition, the cargo area can be extended up to 66.9 cubic feet when the rear seat has been folded down. Moreover, Volkswagen is also offering an optional fold-flat front passenger seat with "V-Tex" leatherette seating that provides additional cargo room. Other features of the 2008 VW Jetta SportWagen include eight-way adjustable front seats with lumbar support adjustments, a height and telescoping steering wheel, anti-theft vehicle alarm, cruise control, CD player, traction control, and four-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS). A host of safety features includes driver and front passenger front airbags, driver and front passenger side thorax airbags, Side Curtain Protection system, and rear-impact optimized head restraints for the driver and front passenger seat. Also included as an optional feature in the Jetta SportWagen is a 12.7-square feet panoramic sunroof that provides open air driving experience for its occupants during the day or at night.
