The Sealed Lamb and the Woolly Wolf

When you are sealed you become like a lamb. Like Jesus. And yet the wolf is on the prowl--especially today. The wolf wants to tear and devour the flock but the lamb with the Seal is protected.

Jesus was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world. His death was planned from before our beginning. It was all too predictable. People could not tolerate his beneficent acts.

Jesus is also the shepherd of the flock. He is the Good Shepherd. And we are little lambs like Him. All might seem well. But there is a dangerous predator on the loose. And he is looking for you.

The devil is going about today looking for little lambs like you. To devour. To eat. To completely destroy. The devil has often disguised himself as a wolf. And new findings today show just where he was in history.

Archaeologists have been working on a site in Italy for years. They have treated it with delicacy. They did not want the site to cave in under the burden of digging it up. It is the site of the sanctuary of the founder of Rome.

Part of the grotto has already caved in. So scientists have been careful with it. But recently they unveiled the opening to the grotto. It is the sanctuary of Romulus who was famed as the founder of Rome.

Romulus and his twin brother Remus according to legend were nursed by a she-wolf when they were babes. They were orphaned and set afloat on the Tiber river. They came ashore near where Rome was founded.

According to the story Romulus killed his brother Remus when they could not agree about Rome. This is the first sign he showed of being wolfish. He built a sanctuary for the misfits of other cities to find rest in.

That is the sanctuary being unearthed today. Ancient writings place the sanctuary near the palace of Augustus, first emperor of Rome. Augustus loved the myths of his Rome and restored the sanctuary, known as the Lupercale.

Today the Lupercale is buried directly beneath the ruins of the palace of Augustine. Plans are being made for just how to unearth the Lupercale without disturbing it or any other ruins.

What does this have to do with the devil? Plenty. The wolf has been a symbol of the empire and city of Rome throughout antiquity and up to this day. And the wolf is busy today pursuing the lambs of the flock.

Just like wolves of various sorts have been busy pursuing the flock throughout history. And Rome has engendered its share of wolves. The early emperors were all wolves devouring the Jewish people.

But Jesus did not come to deliver you from the Roman empire or any such tyranical regime. Jesus came to deliver you from the spiritual tyrants. And Rome has unfortunately spawned her share of those too.

Some of the popes themselves were spiritual oppressors. Wolves in sheep's clothing. History strips them of their garment and reveals them as they truly are. A threat to the flock.

When you are sealed you will not be touched by the oppressors. You may be threatened but you will not be harmed. God will protect you since you will belong to Him. You will come home to God whole.
