The arrival of a baby is undoubtedly a thrilling time and a time for celebration but it is also often an anxious time spent running around making sure that you have everything that you need and worrying about whether or not you will be able to cope. This is of course especially true if this is your first baby.

The idea for the baby shower came about as both a special time for family and friends to get together prior to the arrival of the baby and to assist in meeting the financial burden on parents-to-be by giving them many of the furnishings and accessories which they will need as soon as the baby is born.

Although nowadays many people prefer to break out of the traditional mold when it comes to a baby shower, normally these events still adhere largely to traditional guidelines. Probably one of the biggest changes to the baby shower format is that they are no longer exclusively the preserve of women and plenty of men now make it onto the baby shower guest list and are happy to join in. While they might not take part in all of the baby shower games, men do enjoy the opportunity to give their regards to the expectant mother and father-to-be.

Having a memorable baby shower does not require special talent but it takes a carefully thought out plan which includes both a timeline and a budget.
