The Miao people hanged on there, and as they almost gave up, the dragon made its plea first. It begged for its life, and vowed to use its power to protect the village from any harm.

Despite the great sorrow over the loss of their boys, the villagers had their mercy on the dragon and save it a life on the condition that it would be good.

The battle was won!

And like it said, the dragon gave the river back to the Miao village, and became a protector of the people. For countless generations, the Miao village enjoys its peace and happiness undisturbed.
