Why is Tecumseh famous? Tecumseh is one of Canada's heroes. His life had become a great legend with the Canadian citizens. There are several myths about his life but one of the basic facts is that he fought for freedom. He was born in 1768 in Ohio. He belonged to a Native American Indian tribe. The Indians back then was trying to have their lands expanded and the Indians living in Ohio retaliated to this. His father died in one of the battles between the American forces. Many people are interested to know the answer to their question, why is Tecumseh famous?

1. The first answer on the question, why is Tecumseh famous is because he was a brave fighter for their tribe. Tecumseh's tribe joined the Revolutionary War. He fought alongside with his siblings. He joined the war because they wanted to protect their homes in Ohio. The Americans gave them an offer in 1795, it was known as Greenville's Treaty. Tecumseh as well as the other Indians did not sign the treaty. Tecumseh united all the other Indians and they battled the Americans. The Americans burned the village of Tecumseh's brother as an act of retaliation because they allied with the British forces to fight them. This further strained their relationship between the Americans. In the 1812 battle the Indians and the British were able to take over the whole of Detroit. Their alliance did not however last long because another commander of the British soldiers came and he wasn't as brave as the first British commander. They lost many battles after that and they were forced to retreat and live in Canada.

2. The second answer on the question, why is Tecumseh famous is because he was a great leader of his tribe. They were able to keep Canada from invasions. The whole Indian tribe regarded his with high esteem. In 1813 his leadership skills was tested particularly when the Americans tried to invade Canada. It was in the battle in Thames that he got killed.

3. The third answer on the question why is Tecumseh famous is because he was able to earn the respect of his enemies. He was a kind leader and a humane person. He showed mercy on the soldiers they had imprisoned and treated them in a dignified way. 4. The fourth answer on the question why is Tecumseh famous is because he was able to keep the Native Americans in one unified group. He was a humble leader who fought for liberty.
