Kanye's career developed in a very short period of time. From the years 2001-2004 Kanye has made quite a stellar-like name for himself. He earned a major label recording contract as a solo artist. He definitely was unique up and coming artist. His style and fashion-sense was by far different that other rappers of his genre. He was the complete package, a singer-songwriter and producer. His production abilities were amazing such as in hits sung by Jay Z and Ludacris, yet at the same time racked up impressive hits for himself such as "Gold Digger" and "Jesus Walks".

His musical influences include: Marino Mase, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Common, DJ Premier, Run-DMC and Erik Sermon. West has been awarded several Grammy Awards throughout his career.
